Back with a bang?

No, rather with a whimper. Winter, she has arrived the bitch.

Montreal was expecting a dusting of snow yesterday. Instead, we got a good six inches, then some freezing rain, and now more snow.

The snow removal teams, the cops, the drivers, everyone was taken by surprise it seems. Go figure. After all, it’s only December.

Denial is obviously not just a river in Egypt. Nor am I the only one who likes bathing in it.

  1. Guillaume says:

You got to admit, it’s absolutely gorgeous. I love winter, I can’t wait to be in Montreal (in a week time). Still, In wonder how they always manage to forget that winter comes once a year for six months. Nobody seems prepared when it arrives!

  2. geewits says:

If it will make you feel better, it’s in the 20’s here and it sleeted on my head last night.

  3. Dumdad says:

It’s cold here but not that cold; I DON’T like winter. Snow is pretty and all that but I prefer the sun.

  4. Jazz says:

Guillaume – Nope. You won’t make me admit it’s gorgeous. I find it incredibly drab looking actually. Grey, brown and white. Leafless dead looking trees. I need colour in my life.Geewits – Makes me sorry for you if nothing else.Dumdad – Oh yeah. Sunshine and warmth do it for me too.

  5. Em says:

    Looks cold!!! BRRRRR

  6. Ian Lidster says:

Bummer. We have it forecast for Friday. I plan on them being wrong — as they are 90 percent of the time anyway. May your winter blossom into spring very early this year, not like last year.

  7. VioletSky says:

Congratulations. We had a groundcover of snow yesterday – then the temp went up to 6C and it rained. All gone. We are missing all the fun.

  8. ticknart says:

Blah blah blah blah blah warm thoughts. Blah blah seasons blah snow. Blah blah blah here blah blah and blah blah blah blah.

  9. VioletSky says:

Okay, am watching the news on Global – looks more treacherous than beautiful. Are you glad to take the bus now?

  10. Jazz says:

Em – it ISIan – ok, well if you have control over the weather, I’d like you to move here please.VS – Fun? What fun?Tick – warm thoughts. yeah, send more.

  11. XUP says:

Interesting how you think of winter as a frigid bitch and I think of winter as a cold, crusty old man

  12. You know I often wonder about this myself.. We do live in the northern hemishere! and this is Canada!… isn’t anyone ever prepared for anything anymore??… I was just thinking the other day..What would everyone do if some magnetic force shut down all computers everywhere, all over the world, and all the things that are run by computers.. where would we all be?.. .. I know this doesn’t apply to snow.. just referring to things happening, that we seem to fail to think about ever happening, till they do, Then we wonder why we never thought of them before or planned a recovery…… Could apply to a lot of things I suppose…

  13. Jazz says:

XUP – ok that is strange. I just can’t picture winter as a “male”. Autumn is though.Gwen – How true. If computer shut down simultaneously all over the world… well, we’d probably be knocked back into the stone age with no idea how to deal with it.

  14. Urban Animal says:

I imagine you took that pic from your office right? I always liked Place Ville Marie. Can’t wait to see it again in a few weeks. I was watching the news and wow, apparently the car repair shops were busy installing winter tires on cars. Toronto got nothing. A dusting, nothing more. A few flurries today but again, nothing. I guess we feel lucky till we get our first snow dump 🙂

  15. Hagelrat says:

Ok I cave I am now officially sick of Winter. Not like we really got a summer either. Humph. and yeah I know I was all “yeah for winter@ a month or two ago. It’ll be the same next year.

  16. That girl says:

Every year, I hate this season! It had a light dusting in Vancouver last night as well, but thank god it usually doesn’t stick here.I would HATE to wake up to that much snow as what you’re talking about.

  17. raino says:

i hate winter but do love that photo. looking at it makes me shiver then be thankful for the fact that i am on this side of the window inside and warm.
