I’m 50.

I could get all maudlin about my half century.

I could scream at the injustice (!?!) of it.

I could wax poetic.

I could do a boring overview.

Instead I will simply note that:

I’m not old, I’m VINTAGE

And I’m chilling at the cottage.  With plenty of wine.  Life is good.

And that’s all I have to say about that.

Happy birthday, dear Jazz! I like the # 50. It’s a nice round, solid number. I hope it brings 50 cakes and 50 bottles of wine and 50 excellent gifts!

    Mon dieu, 50. Happy birthday!

    You say it’s your birthday
    It’s my birthday too–yeah
    They say it’s your birthday
We’re gonna have a good time
    I’m glad it’s your birthday
    Happy birthday to you.

It’s not really my birthday, of course, but I liked the Beatles verse. Anyway, 50’s not so bad. I was that once. Among other things my ex and I ‘partied’ in the back of a limo she hired for the occasion. To say more would be telling.

Hope it’s all wonderful for you, my dear.

  7. Suldog says:

Happy Birthday! You have now reached the age where you get a pass on anything, so long as you don’t abuse the privilege.

“At my age? Not a chance!”

It can be used to avoid nasty exercise, hideous food, late nights with boring people, etc.

  8. pinklea says:

Happy birthday, soul sista! I’m a bit ahead of you in the age department, and I have to say I found it HARD turning 50. Unlike you, I never thought of using the word “vintage” – I think it would have helped me immensely. Enjoy your wine and cottage time! xo
