Oh the irony!

Yes, I know, I only seem to be posting stuff like this recently, but there you go. I’m struggling to keep this blog alive and it seems to be a losing battle. So this is all I got for you today.

  1. I love it. You have a way to pinpoint what should be so obvious and that all the rest of us tend to miss miserably …

Hope you aren’t one of those out in the jungle today.

such a sad thing isn’t it? i for one refuse to participate in the consumer orgy. been sitting in front o fthe fire watching movies and surfing the web all day. quite happy not to risk being trampled.

One of my students asked me yesterday if I was going shopping for Black Friday. I looked at her blankly and explained that actually that was an American invention to sell more merchandise, built around their Thanksgiving Day, which to them, heralds the start of the Christmas season. Also, I continued, I was WORKING that day, in an elementary school with HER, so I couldn’t just leave to go shopping. All this in French … and the kid is seven. Too much maybe?

  5. Jocelyn says:

Black Friday is so far beyond Nuts that it takes the light from Nuts 72 years to reach it.

Okay, for your next post: could you please tell me a story about you and your brother? (do you have other siblings? I don’t even know). I’d love to read a childhood tale of you and him, either having a blast, a fight, or a moment of siblinghood.

  6. More horrifyingly, they started Black Friday on Thursday evening this year. People couldn’t hang out at home for one freaking day and just be thankful!

And the %$^*()* greed fest is creeping up on Canada, too.

I can’t believe I didn’t comment on this before. Well, anyway, AMEN!
