OK, so I have a title, but not much to go along with it unfortunately. I’ve not been blogging much these past weeks, ok, months. As my mom always says, if you have nothing to say, just shut up. I took her words to heart. Always good to listen to mom.
Spring is coming, and I have proof. I have a dresser drawer that sticks in winter. I can’t get it completely shut for months. Just this week, it started gliding again. It’s been happening for years so it’s not theory, it is FACT. And I will clutch that in my grubby little fingers like a miser holds onto his gold. Yep. I need to believe that winter is over.

Today is Blogger day of silence Japan. That’s right. Bloggers won’t blog today in order to support Japan. Wouldn’t you know this is the day I’d blog. These days, when I have a modicum of inspiration, I run with it.
However, I do have issues. It’s a lovely thought, but how does not blogging help Japan? I’m sure all those Japanese who have lost everything – including their loved ones – in the quake and tsunami and are now living under the threat of a radiation cloud are thrilled that bloggers are keeping silent today to support them. It makes no sense. None. Seriously, how does that help? Do the Japanese really give a shit?
I had the same issue with the quake in Haiti. Facebook was all aflutter with the same type of “action”. It’s not action. It’s a way to feel you’re doing something when actually you’re doing nothing at all. At least be honest about it. Who me? A bitchy cynic? You can’t really be surprised after all this time.

And speaking of earthquakes, we’ve finally had the requisite articles in the paper regarding how Montreal will be hit by a major earthquake of a Haiti-type magnitude within the next 50 years. Usually when there’s a major quake they’re much quicker in recycling that particular scary story. Of course, as Montreal is an older city, it will be reduced to rubble, the buildings not having been built to withstand earthquakes. I live in a house built in 1912. It was nice knowing you all…

A new fad! New to me anyway. After cocooning, you now have “outdooring”. Outdooring is all about living outdoors. Using your back yard. From what I gather it’s pretty much what we’ve always been doing in summer, i.e. sitting on the deck having a beer. Except now you need all sorts of accessories to do so. You need the outdoors living room furniture which costs at least as much as the real kind, oh, and the outdoors dining room, and the huge ass BBQ with attached fridge and, I imagine, dishwasher. The cost of sitting outside and catching some rays today is astronomical.
Me? I’ll just sit on my old pvc chair and have my glass of wine. I’m cheap that way.

Spring: OMG IM SO EXCITED. Been a warm couple days at last, and best of all, NO BUGS YET.
Trump: I am not boggled at all. One can’t be an American President without money and lots of it. Been that way since the beginning really, and has only got exponentially worse in the last 30, 40 years. America is a Plutocracy–the founding fathers designed it that way.
Blog Day of Silence: yeah, that was my thought too. It makes no sense. They got way to much to worry about to find time to take umbrage over the actions or non-actions of white folks half a world away. Honestly, its such a WHITE thing to do!
Maybe if The Donald was president, he’d do that reality show with a bunch of third world countries vying for the prize.

As for the Japanese, I think I’d rather send a few sheckels to their RED CROSS…Google has some info on that.

Yeah that facebook stuff is usually goofy, but I do the picture changes when they are fun like putting up your favorite cartoon characters (I did Betty Veronica and Archie) or favorite pet (Barney). But the reality is we actually send money to the Red Cross when there is a crisis somewhere.
Those outdoor kitchens are interesting but when they are in Texas I laugh because it’s too hot to “live” oudoors all summer long. They would only be really good in March, April, October and November. But in a year round temperate climate like San Diego? Yeah, that would be nice.
I hope Trump runs for president because it would screw the GOP just like picking Palin. Whatever they can do to look stupid works for me.

I think it is better to blog about Japan, than be silent about it. They are a brave, fascinating people.
Yeah no, blogging is communication. You typically don’t respond to a crisis by ceasing communications, no matter how removed you are (and in this day and age, we are not removed just because we’re on the other side of the planet). Odd the movement wasn’t for everybody TO blog that day, and to mention Japan in at least someway to keep them in our thoughts and share information instead.
That “no blogging” thing is one of the silliest ideas I’ve ever heard. If anything, it shyould be just the opposite. Blog loud and long for them, if so inclined. Silence? Makes no sense.
